Live Scanning Workshop: Lower Limb Nerves

  • Mr Sean McPeake, Benson Radiology, Australia
  • Beginning in the gluteal region we will review techniques for identifying the sciatic nerve and consider possible gluteal causes for sciatica. Moving on to the anterior hip we will locate the femoral nerve and consider femoral nerve pathology. Meralgia paresthetica will be introduced as a cause for anterolateral thigh pain along with a review of techniques for identifying the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN). Around the knee we will localise the tibial and common peroneal nerves and consider traumatic causes of nerve injury here. We will complete our review in the foot and ankle reviewing the common causes of metatarsalgia. A large focus of the presentation will be to consider clinical presentations of the different entrapments so that attendees will leave with a better understanding of; "When should I look for that?"
