  • Objective: There are few data about parameters of blood flow in central retinal artery in healthy children and adolescents. The aim of our study is to establish normal velocity and resistivity values in central retinal artery in Russian children and adolescents.
Methods: 59 healthy subjects (age 9 – 16 years) were studied. Velocity parameters (Vs and Vd) and resistive index (RI) in central retinal artery were analyzed (ultrasound machine EnVisor, Philips).
Results: Using color flow mapping central retinal artery was visualized in all cases. The mean systolic and diastolic velocity (Vs and Vd) values in this artery appeared to be 13.95±1.20 cm/s and 4.86±0.12 cm/s. The mean value of RI was 0,641±0.023.
Conclusion: Normal velocity and resistivity values in central retinal artery in Russian children and adolescents are established.
