High Risk Pregnancy & Role of Doppler Ultrasound
Background/Objectives/Aims: To explore a deep conceptional views and skillful use of Doppler ultrasound in the obstetrical field.
Materials and methods: Using obstetrical color Doppler ultrasound in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy in all patients of last 1 year and their outcome.
Results: There are numbers of fetal & maternal, arterial and venous, parameters & Doppler indices that may predict or estimate a correct fetal status and outcome of pregnancy.
Conclusion: Notch in the uterine artery is the best predictor of preeclamsia. Absent or reverse flow in the umbilical artery are associated with IUGR. The importance of other vessels interrogations is also emphasized to ensure that a correct diagnosis is obtained. Knowledge of how to use and when to use these very significant and diagnostic tools is important in the modern day management of high risk pregnancies.
