Submitral Aneurysm Case Report

  • Submitral aneurysm is an aneurysm just beneath the posterior leaflet of the mitral valve due to a congenital weakness at the junction of the myocardium and the annulus. It is a rare cardiac disease, mostly seen in the black population. The first case was described in 1812 by Corvisart, so far the disease has been detected few hundred cases, majority in African blacks, Brazil, Indies, and sporadic cases in Europe and North America.
    We present a case report of submitral aneurysm in 29 year-old female diagnosed by echocardiography with color Doppler tissue imaging and confirmed by MSCT 64 slice with interesting images, not reported previously.
