Genetic Ultrasound. 98% Detection Rate for Trisomy 21
> Genetic ultrasound. 98% detection rate for Trisomy 21This presentation will discuss the role of fetal echocardiography to detect fetuses with Down syndrome. Most studies have suggested that 2nd trimester genetic ultrasound only detects between 50% and 70% of fetuses with trisomy 21. The data presented in this paper will focus on the role of fetal echocardiography to increase the detection rate for Down syndrome to 98%. The study that will be presented highlights the fact that over 30% of second trimester fetuses with Down syndrome only had cardiac abnormalities! The role of Genetic Ultrasound will also be discussed as it relates to 1st trimester NT screening.
