Pictorial Assay: Sonographic Findings in Scrotal and Testicular Pathologies
Scrotal and testicular pathologies are one of the major group of disease caterogies where ultrasonography is one of the most important imaging modality in early diagnosis. In the pediatric age group, lack of ionizing radiation is an important advantage in the frequent follow up of the testicular and scrotal diseases. Harmonic gray scale ultrasound findings of the testicular parenchyme are important in the differential diagnosis; besides color and spectral Doppler findings are sometime crucial during making a decision for the approriate treatment method. We present some demonstrative examples of the benign and malignant tumors (Seminoma,Leydig cell tumor, mixed germ cell tumor, etc) and other infectious (epididymoorchitis) and vascular (testicular torsion, intratesticular varicocele etc)pathologic conditions emphasizing the value of gray scale and color Doppler US in of scrotal and testicular pathologies.
