  • We show our experience in the use of transoperativ sonography for exeresis of glial brain tumors. Patients with high-grade glial tumors in our hospital (Hospital Civil Dr. Juan I. Menchaca): They are operated with microsurgical technique and the use of trans-operative sonography with the propose of locate and improve to removal of the tumor.
In All patients, imaging studies was performed (CT, MRI) before and after surgery to assess the extent of the tumor removal and the post-operative residual tumor; Also Showing the pre- and post-operative. Clinical condition, and the hospital time-stay, complications and sequelae. Re-assessing the role for trans-operative Ultra- sonography in the largest and vascularized tumors is most secure to remove of Lesion. In all the cases were histopathologically demonstrate with tumor glial lineage.
The patients operated with the use of Trans-operative Ultra-sonography presented a important and safe remove of tumor (measured through CT and / or MRI) in addition they presented a good clinical condition at hospital discharge and a short hospital stay. The Histopathological study in all patients was conducted to confirm the diagnosis of high grade gliomas (III and IV).All patients Received a complementary treatment with radiotherapy.
Conclusions: The use of Trans-operative Ultrasonography in Patients with high-grade glial tumors produces major benefits, is associated with greater and more safely remove of the malignant lesions, also observed a shorter hospital stay and a better condition to his hospital discharge.
