  • Introduction: The utility of ultrasonography as a tool of spinal surgery has been demostrated to increased to accuracy of localitations of spinal lesions and visualizate the anatomical features of the spine in real time to achieve optimal outcomes.
Material and Methods: We present a small study in our hospital in the previously 2 years. Presented representative cases children and adult patients with spinal medular lesions. We using michoscope and ultrasound machine (Aloka 5500).
The principal lesions in chlidren were spinal anurisms, MAV-spinal, infiltrativ tumors.
In adult patients the pathological lesions were siryngomielia, ependimoma and epidural absces.
The benefits for the utility of ultrasound during spinal surgery was demostrate, we found a increase of the acuracy of localitations of the lesions and improvement to calculate the volume, size and residual lesions in real time during spinal surgery. The possible residual bleding was detected by this method as control at the time of clousure. The anatomical conditions as vasculart flow was demostrated.
Conclusions: The use of the ultrasound during spinal surgery as another tool offers many advantages to achieve better outcomes in spinal medular lesions.
