INVITATION FROM THE WFUMB PRESIDENT
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to WFUMB2009, one of the foremost gatherings of ultrasound experts in history. The congress has gathered a worldwide distinctive staff of highly experienced professionals, researchers, and speakers, with topics covering the basics as well as advanced imaging techniques.
The WFUMB2009 program was designed for you to explore and experience new developments and applications within the field of medical ultrasound and to collaborate on the development of common and global high standards for the safe and effective use of ultrasound. Please take advantage of all this congress has to offer, including features such as the live scanning workshops and point-of-care sessions. There are numerous opportunities for hands-on training for all levels of ultrasound operators, from beginners to highly skilled practitioners, across the full spectrum of ultrasound practice.
I hope you will also take some time to interact with peers and colleagues in ultrasound from all around the world. One of the most important goals of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) is to expand the opportunities for ultrasound practitioners throughout the world to participate in ongoing and newly developed educational programs. Through events such as WFUMB2009, the WFUMB Council, in partnership with our member societies, is able to reach our collective goal of raising the level of patient care by raising the level of ultrasound education around the world.
On behalf of WFUMB, I would like to thank the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) for their hospitality in organizing WFUMB2009 in such an excellent location as Sydney, with its welcoming people, supporting a socially enjoyable and memorable Congress.
Thank you for joining us in Sydney for WFUMB2009, bringing together the latest aspects of ultrasound education and equipment.
